Cambridge has been crushed by rising costs of housing ever since rent control was outlawed across Massachusetts in 1994 and because Massachusetts has not built enough housing throughout our state.

The state blocks cities like Cambridge from enacting local solutions to protect renters. Even policies designed with local input and passed by the City Council require special approval from Beacon Hill, this is called a home rule petition.

Our opponent, Rep Marjorie Decker, has failed to navigate Cambridge’s home rule petitions through the state’s approval process, while accepting maximum donations from real estate industry power brokers like Conor Yunits.

We’re proud not to accept any donations from lobbyists or corporate real estate developers. The majority of Evan’s campaign donations come from Cambridge residents, unlike Rep Decker’s donations which are over 70% from outside our city.

Evan will help reform Beacon Hill so that bills actually move so that we can build more housing throughout the state, protect tenants from price gouging, advance social housing and community land trusts, and lower the cost of housing.
